Nine hundred and twenty-three works were
submitted to the First International Poster
Biennale in Warsaw. Of these, the Polish Jury
consisting of Professor Jerzy Hryniewiecki, Di
rector Ryszard Stanisfawski, Professor Stanisfaw
Teisseyre, the Editor Jerzy Wasniewski and
Director Wojciech Wilski, accepted six hundred
and five posters from thirty-two countries.
In accordance with the rules, the Biennale's
commissioner, the graphic artist Eryk Lipihski,
divided the posters into three groups as pro
vided by the rules: those on social subjects (107),
those dealing with cultural events (309) and ad
vertising posters (189).
In accordance with the rules, the Jury of the First
International Poster Biennale awarded prizes in
three sections, as well as special prizes.
